ELSIPOGTOG, NB \u2013 It is with heavy hearts that the
\n family of Edward Alex “Jimmy” Francis announce his passing
\n on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the age of 83. He was the son of the
\n late Joseph William Francis and the late Susan (Levi)
\n Francis.<\/p>\n
Jimmy was a man of many talents whose life was deeply rooted
\n in his love for the land, his community, and his family. He found
\n great joy in spending time outdoors, whether planting trees, feeding
\n the birds, hunting, or simply appreciating nature. He also loved
\n playing hockey and proudly served as the captain of a fishing boat.
\n Jimmy also enjoyed listening to his favourite country music,
\n especially the songs of Merle Haggard and Waylon
\n Jennings.<\/p>\n
Known for his skill and dedication as an engineer, Jimmy
\n played an instrumental role in the construction of many new housing
\n lots and roads throughout Elsipogtog, leaving a lasting legacy that
\n will continue to benefit his community for generations. A lifelong
\n learner, he attended multiple universities and amassed a wealth of
\n knowledge. Education was something he valued deeply, and he believed
\n in the importance of continually learning and growing.<\/p>\n
Above all else, Jimmy was a strong, kind, and dependable
\n pillar of his community. Though he was known for his strength and
\n determination, those who knew him best will also remember his gentle
\n soul, his warm sense of humour, and the kindness he showed to everyone
\n he met. His family meant everything to him. He was fiercely protective
\n of his brother, JP, would go above and beyond for his daughters, and
\n took immense pride in celebrating the accomplishments and milestones
\n of those he loved. His strength, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering
\n love will be remembered always, and he will be deeply missed by all
\n who had the privilege of knowing him.<\/p>\n
Jimmy leaves to mourn his daughters, Norah Ward-Osmond
\n (Simon) of Rexton, Mona Francis of Elsipogtog, Angela Sanipass
\n (Joseph) of Elsipogtog, Audrey Francis (Curtis) of Elsipogtog, Rhoda
\n Levi (Brian) of Red Bank; his step-daughters, Angeline Levi (late
\n Ivan) of Elsipogtog, Debrah Staples (Joseph) of Elsipogtog; his
\n step-son, Ernest Lagasse of Elsipogtog; his sister, Serena Francis of
\n Elsipogtog; his brothers, John Peter Francis (Vienna) of Main River
\n and Kenneth Francis (Marion) of Elsipogtog; his thirty-four
\n grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand baby
\n on the way; as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family and
\n friends.<\/p>\n
Along with his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his wife,
\n Freda (Sanipass) Francis; his daughters, Violet Levi and Jaime Levi;
\n his step-daughters, Matilda and Valerie; his sisters, Imelda, Marion,
\n Nora, Mary and Norma; his brothers, Mike, Jacob and John Peter; as
\n well as his grandchildren, Mimiges and Tricia, and great-granddaughter
\n Luna Mae.<\/p>\n
Jimmy\u2019s daughters wish to express their sincere
\n gratitude for the care that was provided by the nurses and staff at
\n the Stella-Maris Hospital. They will forever hold you in their
\n hearts.<\/p>\n
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, from 2:00
\n \u2013 4:00 PM and 7:00 \u2013 9:00 PM, and Tuesday, July
\n 28, from 2:00 \u2013 4:00 PM and 7:00 \u2013 9:00 PM, at
\n Thompson\u2019s Funeral Home in Richibucto. A funeral Mass will
\n be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St.
\n Anne\u2019s Roman Catholic Church in Elsipogtog.<\/p>\n
