\n\tTom Cruise<\/a> is known for suffering for his art, but just how much is revealed in a bonus feature as part of the digital release of \u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 The Final Reckoning.\u201d\u00a0The A-list actor and his director, Christopher McQuarrie, reveal during the movie\u2019s climactic plane sequence that the joints in Cruise\u2019s fingers separated from the sheer force the actor had to battle while dangling off the side of a biplane and holding onto the strap of a seat belt.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOh, this almost broke my back,\u201d Cruise says in the commentary as the scene plays out (via Entertainment Weekly<\/a>) as McQuarrie adds: \u201cYou\u2019re talking about a lot of pain here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNow watch this: The thing we haven\u2019t talked about, holding on to this belt,\u201d McQuarrie points out as Cruise is seen in the film holding onto a seatbelt strap as the biplane flips upside down. Cruise notes, \u201cOh God, that was brutal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis separated the joints in Tom\u2019s fingers from the force, so by the time we finished this sequence, your hands were absolutely swollen \u2014 oh my God, it was so painful to watch,\u201d McQuarrie added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 The Final Reckoning\u201d opened in theaters in May after a splashy premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie, touted as Cruise\u2019s final outing in his long-running action franchise, opened to $200 million globally, marking the franchise\u2019s biggest start. <\/p>\n

Despite being touted as the last \u201cMission: Impossible\u201d movie, Cruise would not go on the record confirming whether or not his tenure as Ethan Hunt is actually over or not.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019d rather just people see it and enjoy and we\u2019ve had an amazing time doing it and it\u2019s been a lot of fun and I just want you all to enjoy it,\u201d the actor said\u00a0when asked about<\/a>\u00a0his future with the franchise. \u201cEnjoy this and know everything is the culmination has come to this moment right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
