Johnny Depp<\/a> proved multitasking is alive and well Thursday when he turned a promotion<\/a> of his upcoming Christmas movie, \u201cEbenezer,\u201d into what seemed to be a trolling of President Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor showed up at San Diego Comic-Con<\/a> dressed as Scrooge and surprised attendees by popping out of a fake storefront<\/a> marked with a \u201cScrooge & Marley\u201d sign.<\/p>\n

A crowd gathered around, with many wishing him \u201cMerry Christmas!\u201d<\/p>\n

Depp responded in character.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you have jobs? It seems as though you have so much spare time. Why are you here?\u201d he said, before adding, \u201cI can only say you\u2019re all very, very strange people. Humbug!\u201d<\/p>\n

At one point, Depp ripped garlands from the gates, saying, \u201cThese are poison! Keep these away from children.\u201d<\/p>\n

When another performer protested Depp\u2019s in-character antics, he sneered, \u201cThat\u2019s on my property, which means that I own it.\u201d <\/p>\n

He then seemed to reference Trump\u2019s sweeping tariff programs, telling the people in attendance, \u201cAnd that you\u2019re paying tax on it being there, \u2019cause everybody has to pay all that stuff. Putting tariffs on the gate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s most recent tariffs will be double-digit levies on dozens of U.S. trading partners<\/a>, citing their inadequate enforcement of bans on goods produced by forced labor.<\/p>\n

Depp has mocked Trump before, though this may be the first time he did so dressed as a Dickensian character. He did, however, portray the president in a 2016 satirical version of \u201cTrump: The Art Of The Deal.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

Back in 2016, before Trump was elected president, Depp snarkily said the possibility of a Trump presidency was exciting \u201cin a kind of historical way\u201d because that means \u201cwe will see the actual last president of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cIt just won\u2019t work after that.\u201d <\/p>\n

In 2017, Depp jokingly asked an audience in Glastonbury, England, \u201cWhen was the last time an actor assassinated a president?\u201d<\/a> to the crowd\u2019s cheers.<\/p>\n
