Azzi Fudd had no idea she was the first rookie to win the WNBA All-Star 3-point Contest. She put forth a stellar effort in the championship round to do it.<\/p>\n
Fudd, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft by the Dallas Wings, scored 30 points in the finals to top the Portland Fire\u2019s Bridget Carleton on Friday night at Wintrust Arena.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was shocked, that\u2019s crazy to be the first is definitely an honor,\u201d Fudd said.<\/p>\n

Ionescu holds the record, scoring 37 points in 2023.<\/p>\n The WNBA All-Star Game is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Center (ABC-7).<\/p>\n Fudd hit her first six shots in the final round to get into rhythm. Carleton, from the expansion Fire, had 29 points in the opening round but struggled in the final, scoring 19 points.<\/p>\n Fresh off her victory, Fudd issued a playful request for Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry. The two had a 3-point competition when Fudd went to his camp when she was in high school.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, Steph, if you\u2019re listening, I\u2019m asking for a rematch,\u201d Fudd said.<\/p>\n The 3-point competition capped off the Friday night festivities. Elena Delle Donne, Shakira Austin and high schooler Jezelle Banks led Team Washington to the Shooting Stars championship to tip off the action. The trio scored 31 points to edge Team Seattle\u2019s three in the finals, with Banks hitting two of the 4-point shots from just inside half-court to put the team over the top.<\/p>\n \u201cShe carried. She carried,\u201d Austin said of Banks. \u201cYou could just tell in her energy, like as soon as we started, it was confidence and that showed in how she hit those tough shots.\u201d<\/p>\n
