Riders hopped on bikes and into classic cars and drove from Cloverdale to Squamish in support of Camp Easter Seals.

Sarah Parker, head organizer for the ride, said the event went well for a restart. She said it rained in the morning, which caused them to lose a few riders, but overall they enjoyed a lot of success.

“The event itself went so well,” Sarah told the Cloverdale Reporter. “Everything went so smoothly. Everyone was excited to be able to help (Brenden’s ride) grow again.

Brenden’s Ride supported Camp Easter Seals, located in Sqaumish, this year. The ride—which started off with just motorcycles several years ago, but now includes classic cars—is a fundraiser started by Brenden Parker and his dad Baron Parker in 2014. They wanted to raise money to help defray costs so families that had children with disabilities could continue to send their kids to camp. Brenden, who has cerebral palsy, attended the camp for several years and noticed he was seeing less and less of his friends returning. That’s when he found out the cost to go to the camp kept going up and some families couldn’t afford it. So his idea was to raise funds so those families could send their kids to camp each year.

Brenden’s Ride ran for six straight years until its COVID-caused cancellation in 2020. The 7th event signalled its annual return. Sadly, in 2025, Baron—a former NHL linesman—passed away. The first six rides raised more than $225,000 for local charities.

Sarah said the food was great at the breakfast in Cloverdale at Rusty’s pub before the ride started and at the lunch up in Squamish. She said the entertainment and silent auction went well on location at Camp Easter Seals too.

She didn’t have final numbers yet, but she could safely say they raised thousands of dollars for charity.

Sarah said the Easter Seals wants to combine the next year’s ride with a “camp open-house.”

“They want to have the campers and their families involved,” she explained. “So the campers can see the bikes come in, and the riders get to see the people the money’s going to and get to talk to the families, stuff like that.”

Sarah said after Baron passed last year, friends gathered to do a memorial ride for Baron. “Baron’s Last Ride” was the catalyst to get Brenden’s ride going again. One of the organizers there Steve Williams, who was instrumental in bringing in the classic car portion of the ride, unfortunately passed away about two months ago.

“We might do a classic car show at the ride, in memory of him, next year.”

They had 20 volunteers helping with this year’s ride and they had about three dozen motorcycles and cars participating.

“All around, it was very successful,” Sarah added. “Everyone’s excited to do it again next year.”

For more info, or to donate funds, visit brendensride.ca, email brendensride@gmail.com, call 604-910-1180, or visit Facebook.com/brendensride.

Surrey charity motorcycle and car ride enjoys successful return after multi-year hiatus Published 3:00 pm Friday, July 24,…

[194299
49,48,163792,87674
post-825173","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-surrey","tag-ca","tag-canada","tag-lower-mainland","tag-surrey
["GET
