One person has been taken to hospital with burns after a fire at a Surrey home late Wednesday evening, the City of Surrey tells CityNews.<\/p>\n

Surrey Fire Services Asst. Chief Carl Schmor says they first received a call about the blaze, located at a home on Edinburgh Place near Queen Mary Boulevard, around 11:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cCrews arrived at a single-family residence with heavy flame and smoke coming from the front of the house,\u201d Schmor said. <\/p>\n

\u201cTwenty-four firefighters responded.\u201d<\/p>\n

BC Emergency Health Services paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites says the patient was taken to hospital in stable condition. <\/p>\n

Photos taken at the scene show flames visible through the windows of the building. As well, billows of black smoke were visible in the area.<\/p>\n

Members of the Surrey Police Service were at the scene. <\/p>\n

The nature and cause of the fire are unclear.<\/p>\n
