Swedish duo Roxette will not be bringing their 40th anniversary tour to North America after all.<\/p>\n
The 14-date run, including a stop at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Sept. 14, has been cancelled, the 1980s and \u201990s hitmakers said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cDue to logistics and hugely increased touring costs, Live Nation US has decided to postpone the North American tour. Hope to see you some other time down the road,\u201d the group said.<\/p>\n
Frontman Per Gessle expanded upon the cancellation on Instagram, saying the group was \u201cof course disappointed\u201d and that Live Nation US\u2019s decision was \u201cprobably based on their own calculations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were really looking forward to this North American tour and US is by far our biggest streaming market,\u201d he wrote, adding that the band hopes to play for American and Canadian fans \u201cat some point in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The band recently celebrated a streaming milestone with the video for It Must Have Been Love surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube.<\/p>\n

Roxette last toured in 2016. Three years later, lead singer Marie Fredriksson died from cancer. The band announced their return in 2025 with new frontwoman Lena Philipsson.<\/p>\n
The band\u2019s remaining European dates will go ahead as planned.
