Now in its 11th year, one of North America\u2019s largest South Asian music festivals is returning to Brampton with four days of concerts, cultural celebrations and internationally recognized performers.<\/p>\n
The Heritage Sounds Music Festival (HSMF) runs from Aug. 6 to 9, bringing more than 60 artists to the city for what organizers describe as a multi-genre celebration of music and culture. The festival blends Punjabi pop, Bollywood music, Desi hip hop, R&B, urban, rock, folk, Sufi and Afghan pop, attracting audiences from across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.<\/p>\n
Most of the performances will take place on the grounds of the CAA Centre in Brampton, while the opening-night Artist Soir\u00e9e will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott Brampton.<\/p>\n
The festival opens Thursday, Aug. 6, with the Artist Soir\u00e9e and festival kickoff, an evening reception featuring artists and industry guests following an official flag-raising ceremony at Brampton City Hall earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
Music takes centre stage on Friday with the Desi HipHop Fest, headlined by Punjabi artist Sumit Parta, whose blend of hip hop, pop and R&B has made him one of the emerging stars of the genre.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s BTown MegaFest features one of the festival\u2019s biggest draws, Jasmine Sandlas, the internationally known Punjabi singer-songwriter behind hits such as Illegal Weapon, Sip Sip and Yaar Naa Miley. Festival organizers promise a full day of Punjabi pop, urban music, hip hop and old-school favourites, along with entertainment and cultural experiences.<\/p>\n
The festival wraps up Sunday with Silk Road Sounds, featuring international performers Mehrnigor Rustam, Sadriddin, Fardin Faryad and DJ Banu in a concert celebrating the contemporary sounds and musical traditions inspired by cultures along the historic Silk Road.<\/p>\n
Beyond the concerts, visitors can expect food vendors, cultural exhibits and marketplace attractions throughout the weekend, making the event as much a cultural festival as a music showcase. Festival organizers say Heritage Sounds has grown into a celebration of diversity that encourages audiences to experience music from across South Asia and neighbouring regions while promoting cross-cultural connections.<\/p>\n
Festival passes and individual event tickets are available, with options ranging from single-day admission to multi-day passes. Vendor booths will also be open throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n
