We\u2019re only getting one Marvel movie in 2027: Avengers: Secret Wars. That\u2019s supposed to be a big deal, an example of Marvel holding back instead of flooding the zone. I\u2019m not sure I buy it.<\/p>\n
Why no Marvel movie between this December\u2019s Avengers: Doomsday<\/a> and next year\u2019s sequel? That was one of the questions put to studio head Kevin Feige after Marvel\u2019s big panel series at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of it is a strategy we\u2019ve talked about for a while, of focusing on quality,\u201d he told Empire<\/a>. \u201cWe always try to focus on quality, but when quantity is so much, you get spread thin. We didn\u2019t want to be spread thin, and the Avengers is as important as it comes.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cAnd Secret Wars, in particular for\u00a0Empire\u00a0readers, who know the comics, is a setup in and of itself to the future, to what\u2019s next. So really, it was landing those two movies and setting up 2028, of which we\u2019ve revealed two of them so far,\u00a0Ghost Rider\u00a0and\u00a0Panther III.\u201d<\/p>\n For those counting at home, that\u2019s four Marvel movies in three years. Would one of them coming out in-between Doomsday and Secret Wars really have been the straw that broke the Asgardian Dragon\u2019s back? It\u2019s hard to imagine.<\/p>\n In fact, fans are even speculating based on Feige\u2019s \u201cwe\u2019ve revealed two of them so far\u201d that Marvel actually has a third blockbuster coming out in 2028 as part of whichever numbered phase in the MCU they\u2019re billing this as. Maybe a Nova movie, as Feige previously teased<\/a>?<\/p>\n I\u2019ll be honest, it is kind of nice that there\u2019s a 12-month breather between Doomsday and Secret Wars with no other transmedia filler that fans will have to keep track of.
