It\u2019s not often that a soap completely blindsides us out of nowhere, but General Hospital did just that on Monday when we hit Ethan\u2019s scenes with Ava only to learn that he had been recast. The scene began, the show announced over it that \u201cEthan Lovett is now being played by Christian Howard\u201d and that was it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019ve been rumors Nathan Dean was out since folks noticed last week that he no longer appeared in the closing credits<\/a>. But that seemed odd, especially since Ethan was in so many of the spoilers for this week<\/a>. But we suppose the recast is how both things could be true. Even more telling, Howard wasn\u2019t announced as \u201ctemporarily\u201d playing Ethan. It seems like he\u2019s it, now, for the character.<\/p>\n

And we can not imagine a more jarring way to introduce someone to the audience. For that reason, we really want to caution viewers to not be hard on the poor guy. We don\u2019t know what happened or why, but the man was brought in to to play a role and that\u2019s what he\u2019s doing.<\/p>\n

Howard\u2019s appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including as Ken Master in the Street Fighter TV and mini series franchise, for any gamer fans out there.<\/p>\n

As for where Ethan\u2019s going now, that\u2019s anybody\u2019s guess. His and Ava\u2019s chemistry has been off the charts, and there\u2019s still all that mystery around Phoebe\u2019s paternity. In fact, that\u2019s why he was visiting Ava on Monday\u2019s episode. He wanted to reiterate that Phoebe\u2019s dad was bad news, and the fewer people who knew about him, the better.<\/p>\n

With that said, we\u2019ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more. Right now, about all we do know is that Dean is out and so, too, apparently is Ethan\u2019s accent!<\/p>\n
