Toronto Fire Commander John Carson told reporters that crews are expected to remain on scene throughout the day as the fire is burning deep into construction materials.

As of around 7:30 a.m., the fire was under control, Carson said. Crews cut a hole in the roof to extinguish the fire, he said.

No injuries have been reported.

Large amounts of smoke are in the area, possibly affecting visibility on Highway 427, police said.

Police asked people to use extreme caution when driving in the area.

There are road closures on Disco Road between Carlingview Drive and Highway 427. Atwell Drive is also closed.
