Peel Region is beginning the final phase of a major infrastructure project along one of Brampton\u2019s busiest corridors, with restoration work now underway on Queen Street East following the installation of new underground water and wastewater infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Crews will spend the next several weeks repairing roads, driveways, curbs,\u00a0sidewalks\u00a0and boulevards along Queen Street East between\u00a0Cherrycrest\u00a0Drive and Regional Road 50, with work expected to continue\u00a0through to\u00a0late August, weather\u00a0permitting.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The restoration follows the installation of larger\u00a0watermains\u00a0and sanitary sewers designed to support Brampton\u2019s growing population. Watermains deliver drinking water from treatment facilities to homes and businesses, while sanitary sewers carry wastewater to treatment plants.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Motorists should be prepared for periodic traffic disruptions during\u00a0the work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Peel Region says crews may temporarily reduce traffic to a single lane or close sections of the road as needed, with detour signage posted where\u00a0required. On-street parking will also be restricted in active construction areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The restoration will take place in stages, beginning with repairs to curbs and sidewalks, followed by driveway and road paving before crews finish by replacing damaged sod.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Road paving is expected to begin in early August, although officials note that the schedule could change depending on weather conditions or contractor availability.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The work is being carried out by FCM Construction Ltd., with crews working weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Residents whose driveways are affected will receive notice before paving begins. Peel Region is asking homeowners not to leave vehicles on their driveways during scheduled work and to avoid driving on newly paved asphalt for at least three hours after paving and parking on it for 24 hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Property owners with in-ground sprinkler systems near sidewalks, curbs or driveways are also encouraged to move or clearly mark irrigation lines to help prevent damage during restoration.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Peel Region says all restoration work is backed by a two-year warranty, and residents are encouraged to report issues such as significant settling,\u00a0potholes\u00a0or damaged sod during that period.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The restoration marks the\u00a0final step\u00a0in a project that upgraded underground infrastructure to help meet the long-term water and wastewater needs of one of Brampton\u2019s fastest-growing areas.\u00a0<\/p>\n
