Police say they\u2019ve arrested a man who fled the scene of a drug bust and was found in Brampton almost two weeks later.<\/p>\n
The drug bust happened on July 8 following a drug trafficking investigation by the Dufferin OPP that started in the spring, investigators say.<\/p>\n
The OPP says officers raided a home on William Street in the Town of Shelburne where an undisclosed quantity of cocaine was found, along with packaging materials, scales, $1,200 in cash and 120 unmarked cigarettes.<\/p>\n
Investigators say they also seized a 2020 Mazda CX30 valued at approximately $20,000.<\/p>\n
One male suspect was arrested at the scene, but police say a second man fled the scene while officers were trying to take him into custody.<\/p>\n
After nearly two weeks on the run, police say the second suspect was arrested on July 20 in Brampton by members of the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement squad.<\/p>\n
He was arrested without incident, police say.<\/p>\n
The OPP says Frederick Beckford, 43, of Brampton, has been charged with multiple offences, including trafficking in a schedule I substance \u2013 opioid (other than heroin), possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking \u2013 opioid (other than heroin), flight from peace officer and assault a peace officer with a weapon.<\/p>\n
Ronald McAllister, 63, of Shelburne, has been charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking \u2013 cocaine, trafficking in a schedule I substance \u2013 cocaine and possession of unmarked cigarettes.<\/p>\n
