The segment was quickly met with criticism online, with much of the anger centred on Garcia\u2019s inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Fans resurfaced the boxer\u2019s history of offensive remarks. In July 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/40497215\/wbc-expels-boxing-star-ryan-garcia-racial-slurs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Garcia was expelled by the World Boxing Council<\/a> after a livestream in which he repeatedly used racist slurs against Black people, made anti-Muslim comments, and made disturbing remarks about George Floyd, the Black man murdered by a police officer in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>His own parents publicly disavowed the comments and urged him to seek help. Garcia later apologised, claiming he had been \u201ctrolling\u201d and was struggling with substance abuse, said he would enter rehab, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/wbcmoro\/status\/1985517599430463494\" rel=\"nofollow\">ban was lifted<\/a> in November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Fans also pointed to <a href=\"https:\/\/lataco.com\/boxer-garcia-target\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">past homophobic and anti-transgender posts<\/a> from the boxer as reason to question WWE\u2019s decision to platform him on national television.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is disgusting. Like come on WWE,\u201d one wrote. Another said: \u201cIlja Dragunov can\u2019t get on the f****** show but yeah let\u2019s spotlight this racist boxer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The WBC lifted Garcia\u2019s suspension in July 2025, saying it believed he had taken \u201cmeaningful steps\u201d towards rebuilding his life and career.
