The proposed 8.63-foot structure would have provided free landline calls, Wi-Fi, interactive directions and an emergency defibrillator, along with an LED advertising display.<\/p>\n<p>Planning officials stated the kiosk would add unnecessary street clutter and appear excessive and out of character with the surrounding conservation area. Several residents also objected, including one frequent visitor who described the advertising element as unattractive, obstructive and unnecessary.<\/p>\n<p>The criticism mirrored that over a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kioskmarketplace.com\/news\/defibrillator-kiosk-installation-draws-criticism-in-english-town\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">similar kiosk<\/a> installed in Stanford-le-Hope, England,<\/p>\n<p>The council said it had received 14 similar applications during the previous 18 months.
