A Brampton man who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant in connection with a shooting that left two people seriously injured has been arrested.<\/p>\n
Peel Regional Police announced today that Kaleb Kimotho, 19, of Brampton, has been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
\u201cKaleb Kimotho, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, has been arrested and is now in custody,\u201d police said in a brief update. \u201cThank you to our policing partners for their assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n
Police did not release details about where or when Kimotho was arrested or identify the policing agency that assisted in taking him into custody.<\/p>\n
The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on April 26 in the area of Central Park Drive in Brampton.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, two people were sitting inside a vehicle when two suspects entered the back seat. Police allege one of the suspects opened fire, striking both victims.<\/p>\n
The victims suffered serious injuries.<\/p>\n
Kimotho had been wanted on a Canada-wide warrant on charges of attempted murder using a firearm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing it is unauthorized, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.<\/p>\n
When police announced the warrant on Monday, they warned that Kimotho should be considered armed and dangerous and advised members of the public not to approach him if seen.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not announced whether any additional arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.<\/p>\n
