{"id":835797,"date":"2026-07-30T11:50:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T11:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/835797\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T11:50:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T11:50:09","slug":"hockenheim-domenicali-open-door-to-german-gp-f1-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/835797\/","title":{"rendered":"Hockenheim, Domenicali, open door to German GP F1 return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Formula 1 has offered Germany a rare sign of hope after years without a grand prix, confirming that initial talks have begun with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockenheimring.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Hockenheim<\/a> about a possible long-term return.<\/p>\n<p>Germany has disappeared from the calendar despite its enormous Formula 1 history, as political resistance to cars, rising hosting fees and the absence of public financial support have made races commercially impossible.<\/p>\n<p>The country last hosted Formula 1 at the Nurburgring in 2020 as an emergency pandemic replacement, while the last German GP took place at Hockenheim in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, Stefano Domenicali says Europe\u2019s growing importance has put Germany back on Formula 1\u2019s radar. \u201cWe\u2019re seeing that Europe is also continuing to grow,\u201d said the F1 CEO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s becoming an important market again. The numbers are right.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHockenheim contacted us,\u201d Domenicali revealed. \u201cInitial talks have taken place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are currently modernizing the racetrack. However, if they are talking about a possible Formula 1 event, investment is necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur platform requires a certain level of investment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hockenheim is undergoing a major redevelopment program involving a proposed 250 million euro investment, including a hotel and Motorworld visitor center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not just thinking about the short term, but about a longer-term collaboration,\u201d Domenicali said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Hockenheimring managing director Jorn Teske played down suggestions that a deal is close.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-311039\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/teskejorn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\"\/>Jorn Teske<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in regular contact with Formula 1,\u201d he told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.auto-motor-und-sport.de\/formel-1\/hockenheimring-gp-deutschland-comeback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Auto Motor und Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to get a comprehensive picture of the framework and what the opportunities and risks are.
