{"id":836573,"date":"2026-07-30T19:45:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/836573\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T19:45:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:45:10","slug":"shots-fired-at-winnipeg-mosque-leaders-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/836573\/","title":{"rendered":"Shots fired at Winnipeg mosque, leaders say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leaders at a mosque in Winnipeg say shots were fired at the building while community members were gathered inside on Wednesday evening, calling the incident a \u201cdisturbing attack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Winnipeg\u2019s Rahma Islamic Centre alleges two individuals fired shots at the mosque before breaking the building\u2019s glass \u201cwith another weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, they were unable to enter the premises, and no one was injured,\u201d the mosque said in a social media post.<\/p>\n<p>Damage to the glass of the centre\u2019s windows and door could be seen Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Winnipeg police tell CityNews they received a report of damage to property around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMultiple windows were shattered with damages estimated at over $3,000,\u201d WPS Const. Claude Chancy said.<\/p>\n<p>The Rahma Islamic Centre also alleges the same individuals shouted racial slurs at people gathered at the centre earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis attack has deeply shaken our volunteers, community, children, and staff. Our centre exists to provide a place of community, belonging, and peace.
