It operates in over 160 countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another much-needed long weekend is upon us, and it\u2019s the perfect time to explore this beautiful province with a road trip, particularly since it\u2019s B.C. Day!<\/p>\n<p>The tricky part of finding a place to explore in B.C. during the summertime is finding areas to travel to that aren\u2019t experiencing wildfire trouble.<\/p>\n<p>As of July 29, there were 127 active wildfires in B.C. according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca\/dashboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BC Wildfire Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, there\u2019s still plenty of the province to explore where you should be able to travel at a safe distance away from the threat of wildfires. To help, the B.C. Government has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/safety\/wildfire-status\/prepare\/predictive-services\/weather-fire-danger\/fire-danger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">fire danger<\/a> rating system that shows which parts of the province are currently under the largest wildfire threat, and it updates daily.<\/p>\n<p>Long story short, if you\u2019re worried about wildfires, stick to the coast.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the best places to travel to on a B.C. road trip. There\u2019s tons to do in Tofino all year round, but summertime is peak.<\/p>\n<p>From surfing to whale watching to nature hikes, whether you\u2019re super active or prefer a more leisurely trip, Tofino has it all.<\/p>\n<p>A one-way driving trip will take you around five to seven hours, including the ferry ride.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"b.c. road trip\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1708\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2298371\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/bc-road-trip-scaled.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2298371\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">EB Adventure Photography\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>Port Renfrew is another island destination that offers plenty to do. It\u2019s also a slightly shorter trip than Tofino, at roughly 4.5 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Hiking in Port Renfrew is a must, as the region offers ancient forests with trees that are over 1,000 years old!<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re into fishing, there are fishing charter tours you can book for a day out on the water. And if you do happen to make it out to Port Renfrew, you\u2019ll want to check out the tide pools at Botanical Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Sorrento \u2013 Shuswap Lake<br \/>\n<img alt=\"\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1708\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2298377\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/road-trip-bc-scaled.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2298377\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Max Lindenthaler\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>If you aren\u2019t the seafaring type, fret not; there are places to go that don\u2019t require a sea-sick-inducing ferry ride. It\u2019s around a five-hour road trip under ideal conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Shuswap Lake highlights the province\u2019s natural beauty, and you pass through Sorrento to get there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt lends itself to many outdoor activities or relaxation,\u201d says the Travel British Columbia website.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of parks and green areas to stop for a picnic, and there\u2019s also the nearby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/canada\/british-columbia\/margaret-falls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Margaret Falls<\/a> if you want to do some exciting sightseeing.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"b.c. road trip\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2298390\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/bc-road-trip-2.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2298390\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alexandre.ROSA\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The Village of Kaslo is located in the West Kootenay region of the province.<\/p>\n<p>Among the various things to do in Kaslo is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.klhs.bc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">S.S. Moyie National Historic Site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe S.S. Moyie started in 1898 to carry railway passengers from the newly completed Crowsnest line\u2019s western terminus at Kootenay Landing to Nelson and Procter.
