{"id":837938,"date":"2026-07-31T10:19:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T10:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/837938\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T10:19:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T10:19:09","slug":"f1-rumor-verstappen-tipped-to-confirm-red-bull-stay-at-zandvoort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/837938\/","title":{"rendered":"F1 Rumor: Verstappen tipped to confirm Red Bull stay at Zandvoort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Max Verstappen (pictured) could finally confirm at Zandvoort that he will remain with Red Bull through 2028, according to former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos.<\/p>\n<p>Verstappen was again photographed holidaying with Toto Wolff and their respective partners in Sardinia, around the yachts both regularly use in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Related Article:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autoracing1.com\/pl\/500308\/formula-1-news-verstappen-again-vacations-with-toto-wolff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1 News: Verstappen again vacations with Toto Wolff<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, Mercedes has not pursued the Dutchman as aggressively this year, while recent links with McLaren would require Verstappen to leave his long-time Red Bull environment to join Zak Brown\u2019s customer-engined team alongside fellow champion Lando Norris.<\/p>\n<p>Doornbos believes the realistic alternatives have now disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the coming month we will get some news,\u201d he said on the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/b8mkbVnDlvo?si=p3-edkd14C4LkYoX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Pit Talk podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of Max Verstappen is most likely to be announced in Zandvoort. This is the last Grand Prix in the Netherlands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a big moment for Red Bull to keep Max on board and be able to attach him until 2028. That\u2019s the contract he\u2019s already signed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is only fair to the team to say that publicly to the media and to Red Bull: I will stay with you, so that we can focus on 2027.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat will be an important topic of conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He believes Verstappen has now \u201cmissed the boat\u201d for an immediate move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has to stay with Red Bull,\u201d said the Dutchman. \u201cThe alternatives have been dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see it happening again that Mercedes is pushing for Max, as they\u2019ve done in the past. Of course they already have the next superstar in their own team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doornbos was referring to 19-year-old championship leader Kimi Antonelli, while he doubts Mercedes would want to place Verstappen alongside the Italian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarketing-wise, that would be great, but sportingly, I think it would be a disaster to have those two guys in one team,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf George continues to perform weakly and that becomes a problem, they can hire another second driver.
