The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly set to part ways with veteran point guard D’Angelo Russell before the offseason comes to a close.<\/p>\n
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto<\/a>, Russell isn’t expected to remain with the Grizzlies by the start of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n Memphis initially acquired him as part of a six-team trade<\/a> in which forward\u00a0Santi Aldama\u00a0was sent to the Dallas Mavericks on July 7.<\/p>\n At 30 years old, Russell doesn’t fit the timeline of a Grizzlies squad looking to build around a young core that includes Cameron Boozer, Zach Edey and Cedric Coward.<\/p>\n Memphis could trade Russell and his $6.0 million salary<\/a> for his 2026-27 campaign, while cutting him is also an option if he doesn’t receive much interest from opposing front offices.<\/p>\n The Miami Heat may be a potential landing spot for Russell, as he could provide guard depth while the team looks to contend in the Eastern Conference with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo leading the way.<\/p>\n
