A Calgary boy living with a serious illness got the chance to step into the world of his favourite movie heroes this week, thanks to the efforts of Make-A-Wish Canada and dozens of community supporters.<\/p>\n

When asked by organizers what his one wish would be, seven-year-old Brent\u2019s answer was simple.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be a Ghostbuster,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

That dream became reality at the Calgary Stampede Grandstand, where a special Ghostbusters-themed adventure was created just for him.<\/p>\n

Armed with his Ghostbusters gear and plenty of enthusiasm, Brent took part in an experience designed to make him feel like a real ghost-hunting hero.<\/p>\n

The wish was granted through Make-A-Wish Canada, which helps create memorable experiences for children diagnosed with critical illnesses.<\/p>\n

Supporters gathered to cheer Brent on throughout the day. Among those taking part was Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas, who embraced the theme by appearing as the famous Ghostbusters character Slimer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was not going to be the mayor who was going to let Calgary become the most haunted city west of Winnipeg,\u201d Farkas joked. \u201cAnd to have an amazing new Ghostbuster on the scene speaks for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volunteers said the event was about giving Brent a day he would never forget.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s special to be able to make someone\u2019s day, especially a little person\u2019s day, especially somebody who may not have many more days,\u201d one supporter said.<\/p>\n

Make-A-Wish Canada often describes its mission with the phrase \u201cWishes Are Medicine,\u201d highlighting the positive impact these experiences can have on children and their families.<\/p>\n
