TAMPA, Fla. (August 20, 2025) \u2013 The University of South Florida women’s soccer team will play its first match in the Sunshine State on Thursday, August 21. The Bulls (1-1) will battle the UCF Knights (2-0) in the War on I-4. The first touch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex on ESPN+.

\nSetting the Stage
\nSouth Florida is coming off a 1-1 week on the road in South Carolina. The Bulls knocked off the Furman Paladins before they fell at No. 21 South Carolina. South Florida has now scored a goal in nine of the last 10 matches, dating back to the end of the 2024 season. The Knights enter Thursday with a 2-0 record with wins against UAB and Florida Atlantic.<\/p>\n

\nNote-A-Bulls:
\nSadie Sider-Echenberg<\/a> and Mia Rodach<\/a> are the lone goal scorers for USF with one each. Hedda Ornberg<\/a> has the team’s lone assist. Leire Herraez Gallach<\/a> and Gaby Rourke<\/a> have split time in the goal for the Bulls. The tandem produced a combined shutout in the season opener. Herraez Gallach has seven saves, while Rourke has five saves.

\nThe Bulls and Knights will meet for the 25th time on Thursday. UCF holds a 13-7-4 series advantage. South Florida won the last meeting, 1-0, in Tampa on September 9, 2024.

Chris Brown<\/a> enters his second season as USF head coach after a record-setting debut in 2024, leading the Bulls to 12 wins and coaching both the American Athletic Conference Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Year. Brown spent 17 years as associate head coach (2007\u20132023), helping USF to three American Athletic Conference titles, eight NCAA appearances, and a 10-year streak of 10+ win seasons. He coached USF’s first All-American, Evelyne Viens, now a Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist, and has developed multiple American Athletic Conference award winners. Players under his guidance hold most of the program’s records.
