After Jackson Goldstone\u2019s stunning 2025 season, it\u2019s hard to believe that he hadn\u2019t won a race yet in 2026. That ended on Friday, with the reigning world champ taking a win on the iconic 1199 track in front of a roaring home crowd in Whistler in the Canadian Open DH.<\/p>\n
While Whistler\u2019s 1199 quickly earned a reputation as one of the hardest downhill tracks anywhere, mFriday\u2019s win is more than just a good start on a hard track. The Crankworx race worked as a mini-preview for this fall\u2019s World Cup that will take place on the same track.<\/p>\n
That long-awaited World Cup debut brought out a high-calibre international field for the Canadian Open. Goldstone was joined on the podium by Australian legend Troy Brosnan and Luke Meier-Smith. <\/p>\n
Just behind those international stars, more Canadians proved they\u2019ll be a real threat in two months time when the rest of the world joins the party. Jakob and Dane Jewett finished fifth and sixth, with Syndicates Austrian Andreas Kolb placing seventh ahead of Canada\u2019s Michael Delesalle and Henry Sherry. <\/p>\n
On the women\u2019s side, a heavy crash from Canadian champion Gracey Hemstreet (Norco Race Division) ended what was looking like a fast run. That left the U.S.A.\u2019s duo of Aletha Ostgaard and Matilda Melton to finish 1-2 ahead of New Zealand\u2019s Eliana Hulsebosch. <\/p>\n
Canadian junior national champ Tayte Proulx-Royds (Polygon) finished fourth among the elites, giving her the junior win ahead of Indy Deavoll and Jenna Foreman. <\/p>\n
