When I reviewed \u00c9vang\u00e9line during its Montreal premiere last February, it was already evident that the ambitious production had the potential to become one of Quebec\u2019s theatrical highlights of the year. Six months later, after returning to see the musical for a second time, it is clear that the production has not only lived up to those expectations, it has grown into an undeniable popular success.<\/p>\n

Now back at Place des Arts for its final Montreal engagement, \u00c9vang\u00e9line has officially surpassed the remarkable milestone of 50,000 tickets sold, a testament to the enthusiastic response it has received from audiences throughout Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Following successful runs in Montreal, Quebec City, Trois-Rivi\u00e8res and most recently Moncton, the musical is making its final stop in Montreal before concluding its tour in Quebec City this September.<\/p>\n

Seeing the production again offered a fresh perspective. Like many long-running productions, \u00c9vang\u00e9line has continued to mature over the past six months. The performances feel more assured, the pacing more fluid, and the emotional moments even more impactful than during its initial run.<\/p>\n

Maude Cyr-Desch\u00eanes once again delivers a captivating performance in the title role, portraying both the quiet vulnerability, wit and remarkable strength of \u00c9vang\u00e9line. Olivier Dion brings warmth and sincerity to Gabriel, while Matthieu L\u00e9vesque and Nathalie Simard contribute memorable performances that enrich the emotional depth of the production. Together with a talented ensemble cast, they bring remarkable energy and authenticity to this sweeping historical drama.<\/p>\n

The impressive milestone of 50,000 tickets sold reflects more than commercial success as it demonstrates the enduring relevance of this story and the strong connection audiences continue to feel with its message. Few original Quebec musicals manage to generate this level of public enthusiasm, making \u00c9vang\u00e9line one of the standout cultural events of 2026.<\/p>\n
