On Friday, “Money Moicano” tested himself in a grappling match and picked up a submission victory outside MMA. The Brazilian defeated former Bellator<\/a> lightweight champion\u00a0Patricky Pitbull<\/a> by arm-triangle choke at BJJ Stars<\/a> 19 in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil.<\/p>\n Renato Moicano Gets the Submission<\/p>\n Renato Moicano was able to dominate the fight from the start and impose his game. After an unsuccessful takedown attempt by Pitbull, Moicano ended up on top, instantly taking control of the pace on the ground. From top position, the UFC lightweight transitioned smoothly into mount, locked in the arm-triangle choke, and applied heavy pressure, forcing Pitbull to tap out.<\/p>\n Renato Moicano Returns to UFC Soon<\/p>\n Besides his excellent performance in grappling, the Brazilian also picked up an impressive win in his most recent Octagon appearance. Moicano defeated Chris Duncan by submission in his last UFC fight, bouncing back from two consecutive losses, including a title fight against Islam Makhachev<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, the Brazilian will face Ortega at UFC 331 looking to maintain his momentum. The grappling match against Pitbull gave Moicano another opportunity to compete before returning to the Octagon in September.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Pitbull is going through a rough stretch in his MMA career. The former Bellator champion has gone more than three years without winning inside the cage, compiling a bitter 1-6 record since November 2022, when he lost the title to Usman Nurmagomedov<\/a>.
