Mannion explained that the description stems from a teaching philosophy centered on clarity and what the <a data-autotag=\"c1b3a094-e294-4a77-b1b2-dbdbd5bfa2c5\" href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/philadelphia-eagles\/354\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-t-l=\":b|e|k|\u2691u\" class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\">Eagles<\/a> call \u201cassignment commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cWe want these guys to go up there, know exactly where to go and play fast,\u201d Mannion said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Mannion and offensive line coach Chris Kuper want to remove uncertainty before the snap. The goal is not to eliminate every difficult decision. NFL defenses are too varied for that. Mailata, Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens and Tyler Steen form a starting group built to displace defenders in the running game and protect Jalen Hurts. A scheme becomes friendly to offensive linemen when it allows those traits to take over. Hesitation can neutralize power and athleticism. Clear assignments let blockers fire off the ball, attack their aiming points and trust that the rest of the line is working within the same structure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Mannion did not suggest the approach reduces the demands placed on Philadelphia\u2019s other positions.
