What: Pleasant Day Festival is taking over a huge stretch of Main Street for a jam-packed community celebration on Saturday, Aug. 8.<\/p>\n

The family-friendly event is presented by the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area (MPBIA)\u00a0and will feature interactive activities, chill zones, and four stages of great live music.<\/p>\n

There is lots to discover at Science World this summer, including the popular feature exhibition Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum.<\/p>\n

What: Kat Jayme, documentary filmmaker behind acclaimed works like The Grizzlie Truth,\u00a0I\u2019m Just Here for the Riot\u00a0and\u00a0Finding Big Country, is coming to Vancouver for two screenings of Naomi Osaka: The Second Set. The theatrical director\u2019s cut of the film will showcase the Japanese tennis great as she prepares for a return to the court after becoming a mother. There will also be a Q&A with Jame during the events.<\/p>\n

The festival takes place until Aug. 4 and has participating vendors across Metro Vancouver creating some delicious cold drinks and frozen treats. Think chocolate milk, iced coffees, milkshakes, floats, fruit slushies, iced teas, bubble teas, and more.<\/p>\n

Gastown BIA<\/p>\n

What: Water Street is turning into a stage, gallery, caf\u00e9 patio, dance floor, and open-air playground every Sunday until Sept. 6.<\/p>\n

Each week features a fresh setlist of DJs, art drops, interactive installations, markets, games, and curated surprises. It\u2019s street-level culture, served up weekly in the heart of Vancouver\u2019s most iconic neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

The series also features several rotating events, with programming including Streetside Sessions \u2013 Coffee Party. Gastown in Bloom \u2013 Flower Market, Open Air Atelier \u2013 Live Art Battles.<\/p>\n

The highly anticipated show at Yuk Yuks Surrey will also feature Seattle comic Ellen Acuario, who has appeared at the Women in Comedy Festival, Crazy Woke Asians, RISK Podcast live tour, and more.<\/p>\n

Light Up Chinatown!<\/p>\n

What: Light Up Chinatown! is returning for its sixth year, taking over the Vancouver neighbourhood with plenty of exclusive food collaborations, live performances, local vendors, and community programs.<\/p>\n

The festival, which started as a way to support local businesses in the area, has been known to draw over 20,000 visitors during its two-day run.<\/p>\n

Big Splash Water Slide Park<\/p>\n

What:\u00a0Big Splash Water Slide Park in Tsawwassen is back for the summer season. The seven-acre resort-style park features 13 body and tube slides, a kids\u2019 zone, hot tubs, and more to help you beat the heat.<\/p>\n

Big Splash\u2019s highlight is the Boomerango, an exhilarating tube slide with a six-story drop. According to the park, it\u2019s the only one of its kind in Western Canada.<\/p>\n

Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival, happening at the Festival Lawn at Deer Lake Park on Saturday, Aug. 8, is once again offering free admission in 2026. Fans will also be treated to a stellar lineup of performers, including headliner Talk and Canadian icon Jully Black.<\/p>\n
