{"id":844294,"date":"2026-08-03T11:57:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T11:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/844294\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T11:57:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T11:57:13","slug":"small-dog-candle-co-closes-ottawa-storefront-shaw-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/844294\/","title":{"rendered":"Small Dog Candle Co. closes Ottawa storefront \u2013 Shaw Local"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Small Dog Candle Co. &amp; Market will be closing its doors but not its candle sales. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Co-owner Jamie Wotherspoon has intentions to semi-retire. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cThis is simply a directional pivot for our business, not the complete end,\u201d said the owners in an announcement on social media. \u201cAs a family, we are looking for work\/life balance after six years of nonstop candle making and as a result have decided to close our storefront.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Wotherspoon, who co-owns the business at 619 LaSalle St., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/tags\/ottawa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ottawa<\/a>, with her daughter, Avery Wheeler, plans to shift the business to focus on private label, wholesale, pop-up markets, and shower and wedding favors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cWe want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us in this journey,\u201d they said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Geometry, a line of towels, and Brumate, a line of drinkware, will be carried at their sister store, Fantzy\u2019s, a women\u2019s clothing store that opened next door earlier this year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Rodeo Cowboy, Fantzy\u2019s signature scent, and perhaps a seasonal scent or two will be available at Fantzy\u2019s. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Gift cards will be honored until the anticipated mid-September closing.
