{"id":844387,"date":"2026-08-03T12:58:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/844387\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T12:58:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:58:08","slug":"ottawa-scarecrow-festival-ends-after-40-years-shaw-local","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/844387\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa Scarecrow Festival ends after 40 years \u2013 Shaw Local"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">After 40 years, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/tags\/ottawa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ottawa<\/a> Scarecrow Festival committee announced it will not return this fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">In a social media post, the committee said the Ottawa Fall Fest &amp; Parade will be the lone fall festival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">\u201cWe here at Scarecrow Fest think that Fall Fest has created something special for the beginning of the season and that they will be able to provide you with plenty of memories to kick start fall,\u201d read the post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">Ottawa Fall Fest &amp; Parade started five years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">A hallmark of the festival, the scarecrow competition, will live on. In past years, downtown businesses created a scarecrow based on a theme and the public voted on its favorite. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">A nonprofit, Ottawa-based Humankind Initiative, will take over the competition and expand it throughout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shawlocal.com\/tags\/la-salle-county\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">La Salle County<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-xb1qmn-0 gBIiEi body-paragraph\">The Times \/ NewsTribune \/ Bureau County Republican is committed to keeping readers up to date with business happenings in the area.
