The 22-year-old from Puebla, Mexico, was drafted by the Edmonton Elks in the first round (3rd pick) of the 2026 CFL Global Draft. He signed with the Elks on May 14, 2026. In 2026, he had six kickoffs for 408 yards (68 AVG), made 2 of 2 field goals (100%), and made four extra points in one preseason game, earning a spot on the practice squad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collegiately, Gomez spent three seasons at <a href=\"https:\/\/emueagles.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/jess-gmez\/15913\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eastern Michigan University<\/a> (2022-24) with 73 kickoffs for 4,435 yards (60.8 AVG), 37 touchbacks, made 46 of 58 field goals (79.3%), with a long of 57 yards, made 95 extra points, and three tackles (2 solos, 1 assist) in 36 games for the Eagles.
