\n\tSony\u2019s superhero blockbuster \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>\u201d stormed to the top of the U.K. and Ireland box office, recording an opening frame of \u00a336.4 million ($48.9 million). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe total marks the third-highest opening in U.K. history, trailing only \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d ($58.3 million) and \u201cSpectre\u201d ($55.5 million). Across its pure three-day weekend (Friday\u2013Sunday), the web-slinger collected $31.5 million from 716 locations for a $44,056 site average \u2013 registering as the fourth-biggest weekend launch of all time behind \u201cEndgame,\u201d \u201cStar Wars: The Force Awakens,\u201d and \u201cHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>\u201d moved to second place in its third weekend of release. Directed by Christopher Nolan<\/a>, the epic feature added $9.1 million over the frame, driving its cumulative local gross to $67.7 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney claimed the third position with Pixar\u2019s \u201cToy Story 5,\u201d which added $1.4 million in its seventh frame. The animated hit lifted its seven-week running total to $69.7 million. Universal\u2019s \u201cMinions & Monsters\u201d followed in fourth place during its fifth weekend, taking $1 million for a cumulative total of $19.3 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tDisney\u2019s live-action \u201cMoana\u201d finished fifth in its fourth week of release, collecting $967,566 to raise its running cume to $14 million. Black Bear\u2019s ensemble comedy-drama \u201cThe Invite\u201d occupied sixth place in its fifth weekend, banking $256,325 to push its cume to $4.6 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal\u2019s \u201cObsession\u201d captured seventh place in its 12th frame, taking $187,276 for a total of $26 million. Studiocanal\u2019s \u201cEvil Dead Burn\u201d held eighth spot in its fourth frame, adding $97,676 for a cume of $3.1 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tBFI Distribution entered the chart at ninth place with Imran Perretta\u2019s Venice Critics\u2019 Week selection \u201cIsh,\u201d which recorded an opening weekend of $41,900. Rounding out the top 10, TGS Cinemas Limited\u2019s Indian political action feature \u201cJana Nayagan<\/a>\u201d added $35,449 in its sophomore session, bringing its total to $735,621.<\/p>\n

\n\tLooking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, Laverock Productions is releasing Ian Findlay\u2019s agricultural documentary \u201cA Dairy Story\u201d and Dogwoof launching \u201cDavid Byrne\u2019s American Utopia\u201d alongside CinemaLive\u2019s event presentation \u201cTurandot On Sydney Harbour \u2013 Opera Australia 2016. Also coming up is the music event release \u201cAteez: Light the Way in Cinemas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWide-circuit launches Include Paramount\u2019s animated sequel \u201cPaw Patrol: The Dino Movie,\u201d Warner Bros.\u2019 fantasy revival \u201cPractical Magic,\u201d Disney\u2019s comedy entry \u201cSuper Troopers 3\u201d and Studiocanal\u2019s horror title \u201cIce Cream Man.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tReleases also include Netflix\u2019s drama \u201cA Child of My Own,\u201d Conic\u2019s \u201cThe Summer Book,\u201d Dreamz Entertainment\u2019s Indian feature \u201cKorean Kanakaraju,\u201d Peccadillo Pictures\u2019 drama \u201cLove Me Tender,\u201d Radiance Films\u2019 classic title \u201cNadja,\u201d and TAPE Collective\u2019s \u201cBouchra.\u201d <\/p>\n
