{"id":845909,"date":"2026-08-04T15:56:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T15:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/845909\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T15:56:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T15:56:21","slug":"major-recall-alert-as-vehicles-could-roll-away-in-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/845909\/","title":{"rendered":"Major recall alert as vehicles could &#8216;roll away&#8217; in Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A big recall has been issued that impacts nearly 37,000 vehicles in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>A number of models are impacted and the issue could lead to the vehicles rolling away, officials say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn certain vehicles, moisture could enter the driver-side door lock microswitch and cause it to corrode,\u201d Transport Canada said in a notice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, the microswitch may fail to automatically engage the parking brake and\/or the auto park feature when the door is opened. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away\u2026. A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The recall is from Mercedes-Benz and involves the following models \/ model years:<\/p>\n<p>A CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nC CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nCLA CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nCLE CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nGLA CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nGLB CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<br \/>\nGLC CLASS \u2014 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026<\/p>\n<p>Overall, there are 36,862 vehicles that are impacted in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Canada said the problem could also cause the radio and\/or interior lights to stay on after getting out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park,\u201d the recall notice said.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes will notify owners about the problem by mail.<\/p>\n<p>They will be advised to take their vehicle to a dealership to have the driver-side door lock replaced.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, INsauga.com also recently reported on two other vehicle recalls.<\/p>\n<p>One involved certain Ram 1500 pickup trucks.
