LETTER: Why does Surrey have bylaws if they\u2019re not enforced?<\/p>\n

Why is it OK for cyclists, e-scooters and mobility scooter users to ride without a helmet and use pedestrian walkways when there are miles of bike lanes throughout the city specifically created for that purpose? Seems like it was a waste of taxpayers\u2019 dollars.<\/p>\n
Maybe the city should consider placing walk-through barriers on pedestrian paths (wheelchair-accessible of course) to make it difficult to ride and encourage the use of the lanes that these \u201cvehicles\u201d were designed for.<\/p>\n
At the moment, it\u2019s a free-for-all, and having to worry about speeding \u201cvehicles\u201d on a pedestrian walkway hardly seems fair to those of us who are on foot. If I were to use the bike lane as a pedestrian path, I\u2019m sure there would be consequences.<\/p>\n
What is the point of a bylaw if it\u2019s not enforced?<\/p>\n
