On Wednesday\u2019s hilly stage of the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Isabella Holmgren placed fifth, leaping up the GC to seventh. Demi Vollering threw down with the two riders who will challenge her for the yellow jersey in Nice, race leader Marlen Reusser and Kasia Niewiadoma and took her fourth career stage triumph. Last year\u2019s winner, Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot, fell further behind and her bid to repeat is looks over. <\/p>\n

Time Trial Shakes Up GC<\/p>\n

Reusser\u2019s Tuesday time trail victory put her in yellow with Demi Vollering only 14 seconds behind. Elisa Longo Borghini and Niewiadoma were a little further in arrears. Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot had work to do if she wanted to wear yellow again. <\/p>\n

A Hilly Wednesday<\/p>\n

Eight categorized climbs spread over 140 km awaited the peloton on Wednesday. The final ascent, Cat. 2 Mont Brouilly, crested 11 km from the finish line in Belleville-en-Beaujolais.<\/p>\n

Despite several attacks in the opening hour\u2013and reactions from world champion Magdeleine Valli\u00e8res Mills\u2013the peloton stayed intact. Puck Pieterse\u2019s chances of being on the podium took a serious blow on Tuesday. But, from 26th place, she was determined to win Queen of the Mountains. Already wearing the dots, Pieterse took the maximum mountains points on C\u00f4te de Cenves, Col de la Croix de l\u2019Orme, C\u00f4te de Saint-Christophe and Col de Fontmartin.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Pieterse was out sopping up the QOM points on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

After the fourth categorized climb, a 19-strong group formed at the front containing Pieterse, Valli\u00e8res Mill and Sarah Van Dam. Antonia Niedermaier, Femke de Vries and Pole Dominika W\u0142odarczyk, fourth last year, were the most dangerous riders on GC. Pieterse reinforced her mountains lead by tipping over Col de Gerbet first.<\/p>\n

The plot of the stage\u2019s second half was Lidl-Trek breakaway riders working to stay away, Niedermaier taking the yellow on the road and Movistar and FDJ United-Suez in the peloton trying to control the damage. <\/p>\n

The penultimate climb, Col de Durbize, was where things exploded. As the breakaway split, back in the peloton Vollering attacked, shedding Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot. Holmgren, Reusser, Longo Borghini and Niewiadoma were able to go with the Dutch woman. Van Dam waited to help Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot. With 23 km remaining, the Vollering-Holmgren-Reusser group caught the Valli\u00e8res Mill-Pieterse-Niedermaier group. <\/p>\n

Mont Brouilly<\/p>\n

The final climb was 2.9 km of 7.6 percent. Fourteen riders hit its foot not too far in front of various chase groups. Vollering cranked it up, dropping the world champion and Pieterse. Vollering kept popping riders off the back. After Reusser faded, Niewiadoma put in her own dig. Reusser came back. Holmgren chased with Niedermaier. <\/p>\n

Vollering, Reusser and Niewiadoma would fight it out for glory. The Pole went early and hard, but Vollering came around her in the final 60 metres. <\/p>\n

Holmgren trails Niedermaier by 25 seconds in the white jersey competition.<\/p>\n

Thursday is another hilly affair without a summit finish. <\/p>\n
