There\u2019s a lunar eclipse coming up at the end of this month, and it\u2019s going to be visible from all over North America \u2014 with Alberta getting some of the best views.<\/p>\n

This August, you\u2019ll be able to see a partial lunar eclipse all across North America. Although it is technically labelled a partial eclipse, the obscuration percentage, according to Time and Date<\/a>, is going to be about 94 per cent in most of Alberta. Despite not being a full eclipse, this event is definitely going to look very close to it.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re still likely to see a sliver of the silver moon sticking out during this event. However, that won\u2019t take away from the red and orange hues lighting up the sky.<\/p>\n

Though right now, this upcoming lunar eclipse is taking our full focus. So, without further ado, let\u2019s get into everything you need to know about this epic evening show.<\/p>\n

When and where can I see the lunar eclipse?<\/p>\n

The partial lunar eclipse is officially happening on Aug. 27 and Aug. 28. Usually, the best times to see it are in the evening, but we\u2019re lucky enough to have found the exact times for Albertans looking to take a peek.<\/p>\n

According to Time and Date<\/a>, for those all around Alberta, your best chance to see the lunar eclipse will be between 7:23 p.m. and 1 a.m., with 10:12 p.m. being the prime time for viewing.<\/p>\n

As for places to get a good look? You\u2019re going to have no problem with that if you\u2019re in Alberta.<\/p>\n

Luckily enough, we\u2019ve lined up some of the best stargazing spots in Alberta<\/a> for this upcoming event. Not only that, but the province is home to many Dark Sky preserves, which are absolutely perfect for that clear, undisturbed view.<\/p>\n

Even if you aren\u2019t close to one of these spots, our best advice is to try to go somewhere with less light pollution. This could be a park, a clearing, or even a short drive out of the city. No matter what, you\u2019re guaranteed to see something.<\/p>\n

We couldn\u2019t be more excited for this eclipse. The next lunar eclipse won\u2019t be until February 2027. So, if you don\u2019t want to wait, make sure to mark your calendar for the 27th and 28th.<\/p>\n
