Formula 1 is \u201c1000 percent\u201d going to have more Sprint Races in 2027, according to boss Stefano Domenicali, though has yet to determine an exact number.<\/p>\n

Formula 1 introduced Sprint in 2021, which was held at three events, and it was expanded to six grands prix from 2023.<\/p>\n

The championship has delayed the publication of its 2027 calendar due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, but it will provisionally feature 24 grands prix, with Portugal and Turkey replacing Barcelona and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

Formula 1 has typically evolved its Sprint Race roster, but while locations remain to be decided, there will be more than six into 2027 and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to have more Sprint Races next year,\u201d Domenicali said during an investor call.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will inform when we will announce the calendar and how many. The principle is very simple. This is also an opportunity to increment the revenue stream, for sure. This is an opportunity for us to have new deals as we have already seen. And moving in this direction will be our future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to do it in the right way because, of course, this will allow us also to make sure that the scarcity is a value.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if commercially, we would go everywhere, of course that\u2019s not anymore a value that we can really from the commercial point of view.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut definitely, we\u2019re going to move further up in terms of what was the number in the future. That\u2019s 1,000% what will happen already next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Formula 1 published declining year-on-year financial figures for Q2 of 2026 versus 2025, from $1.22 billion to $764 million, and operating income falling from $293 million to $73 million.<\/p>\n

But much of that was attributed to only five events behind held in Q2 versus nine in 2025, due to the loss of Middle East events and an altered schedule. Revenue was also impacted in 2026 due to the one-off nature of the increased revenue last year due to the release of the F1 movie.<\/p>\n

It was also outlined that Formula 1 viewing figures in the United States are up year-on-year, with \u2018total hours watched\u2019 up 13 percent, though precise metrics\u2014or a breakdown of these numbers\u2014were not published<\/a>.
