{"id":850995,"date":"2026-08-08T20:16:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-08T20:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/850995\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T20:16:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T20:16:12","slug":"suspect-returned-to-canada-and-charged-in-connection-with-2025-death-of-toronto-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/850995\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect returned to Canada and charged in connection with 2025 death of Toronto woman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 32-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in a downtown Toronto residence in late 2025, police officers say.<\/p>\n<p>It was on Dec. 19 when Toronto police officers said Himanshi Khurana was reported missing. <\/p>\n<p>The following day, investigators said they found the 30-year-old woman\u2019s body at a home near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West. Khurana\u2019s death was subsequently ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, a Canada-wide warrant was issued for Toronto resident Abdul Ghafoori. Officers said the victim and the suspect were known to each other.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/66650\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an update<\/a> released on Saturday, Toronto police homicide officers said they liaised with \u201cnational and international policing partners to facilitate the accused\u2019s return to Canada.\u201d Investigators didn\u2019t say where the accused was located.<\/p>\n<p>Officers said Ghafoori was scheduled to appear in a Toronto bail court on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The allegations against the accused haven\u2019t been proven in court.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"642\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Himanshi-Khurana.jpg\" alt=\"Himanshi Khurana is seen in an undated photo.\" class=\"wp-image-4897063\"  \/>Himanshi Khurana is seen in an undated photo.
