\nCommercial motor vehicle driver charged with six Highway Traffic Act offences.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a member of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit was travelling eastbound on Highway 17 in the Iron Bridge area when they observed a commercial motor vehicle in front of them being operated in an unsafe manner.<\/p>\n
The officer observed the tractor-trailer braking abruptly, following a vehicle too closely, and forcing the vehicle off the roadway.<\/p>\n
The officer initiated a traffic stop at the west end of Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.<\/p>\n
As a result, the 26-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with:<\/p>\n
\n\tCareless driving
\n\tFollow too closely
\n\tDrive left of centre – on a curve
\n\tDrive left of centre – approaching crest of grade
\n\tSpeeding
\n\tPossess more than one licence
<\/p>\n
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Provincial Offences in Blind River on September 15, 2026.<\/p>\n
All motorists, including commercial vehicle operators, have a responsibility to share the road safely. Unsafe driving behaviours put all road users at risk. The OPP remains committed to improving road safety through education and enforcement.<\/p>\n
