He later doubled down with a video of himself playing basketball. \u2018I haven\u2019t even been publicly trans for 72 hours and I\u2019m already getting so much hate,\u2019 White wrote. \u2018I just want to hoop with my girls in my feminine era! Why can\u2019t y\u2019all be happy for me?\u2019 he wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n
Whether Kanter and White could eventually end up in the 2027 Draft is not clear. The WNBA\u2019s new collective bargaining agreement says that \u2018only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA\u2019, but does not define the word \u2018women\u2019 or set out a public rule covering transgender players.<\/p>\n
Commissioner Cathy Engelbert has now told teams that the issue will be discussed by a task force of team presidents and general managers at a previously scheduled meeting next week. Engelbert said \u2018ensuring fair competition\u2019 remained one of the league\u2019s highest priorities. In other words, as Polymarket put it on X, the WNBA is preparing to \u2018review what a woman is\u2019.<\/p>\n
The debate comes after President Donald Trump moved federal policy firmly against allowing male athletes to compete in women\u2019s sport. His February 2025 \u2018Keeping Men Out of Women\u2019s Sports<\/a>\u2019 executive order directed federally funded schools and colleges to enforce Title IX on the basis of sex and declared that allowing males into female competitions was unfair to women and girls.
