If you fancy sitting on the sofa and catching up with some good TV this week, then we’ve got you covered. After all, there are a load of great new additions to streaming to get stuck into.<\/p>\n

Among this week’s highlights are the return of hit Prime Video<\/a> series Reacher, with Alan Ritchson returning to the fray as his character gets drawn into a “deadly mystery”.<\/p>\n

There’s also a new Netflix<\/a> period drama dropping set in early-20th century Australia, which features Slow Horses favourite Christopher Chung (aka Roddy Ho). Alongside that, we’ve got a new South African Netflix show to look forward to, as well as the return of a beloved anime series.<\/p>\n

Over a year and a bit after the last season wrapped, Jack Reacher is back in the next chapter of the action-packed series.<\/p>\n

Adapted from Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow, season four sees the central character cross paths by chance with a distressed stranger on a subway, though it “goes horribly wrong. He’s then “drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power”.<\/p>\n

The latest season comes ahead of spin-off series Neagley, which is due next month and follows Maria Sten’s character \u2013 while fans can also expect a guest appearance from Ritchson.<\/p>\n

Reacher season four premieres on Wednesday, 12 August on Prime Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hit Point<\/p>\n

Another thriller to check out if that’s your sort of thing is British series Hit Point, which marks U&Dave’s first original scripted drama.<\/p>\n

The series focuses on two detectives called Leo and Bella, played by Slow Horses’ Nick Blood and Top Boy’s Saffron Hocking, as an investigation into the theft of millions of pounds sends them into the West London criminal underworld.<\/p>\n

Written by Misfits’ Howard Overman, fans can expect “an adrenaline-charged blend of high-stakes crime thriller and sizzling romantic drama”. Count us in.<\/p>\n

Hit Point premiers on Thursday, 13 August on U&Dave, U&W and U&Drama.<\/p>\n

My Brilliant Career<\/p>\n

This new Australian Netflix drama is based on Miles Franklin’s novel My Brilliant Career, and stars Paper Dolls’ Philippa Northeast as aspiring writer Sybylla Melvyn.<\/p>\n

Living in rural 19th century Australia, her aspirations are impeded by wider society, who expects her to settle down with a man.<\/p>\n

As well as Slow Horses’ Chung, viewers can expect to see The Crown’s Anna Chancellor, Andor’s Genevieve O’Reilly and Hunters’ Kate Mulvany, while the show itself comes from Please Like Me’s Liz Doran.<\/p>\n

My Brilliant Career premieres on Thursday, 13 August on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Umthetho<\/p>\n

Landing later this week, this new South African series \u2013 which is described as “gritty” \u2013 focuses on an “idealistic” state prosecutor called Mbali (Nqobile Nunu Khumal).<\/p>\n

Having believed her younger brother was dead, she must become a double agent in her imprisoned older brother’s gang in order to keep her younger sibling alive, forcing Mbali to choose between family and the law she has sworn to uphold.<\/p>\n

Umthetho is actually an adaptation of the Brazilian series Brotherhood, which is also streaming on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Umthetho premieres on Friday, 14 August on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Re:Zero \u2212 Starting Life in Another World<\/p>\n

Following the conclusion of the Loss Arc, part two of Re:Zero \u2212 Starting Life in Another World’s fourth season takes on the Recapture Arc from the light novel series.<\/p>\n

The story sees Subaru Natsuki tries to recapture what is his amid the continuing storyline around the Pleiades Watchtower, while Rem is still asleep after the Gluttony\u2019s Authority and Crusch has lost her memories.<\/p>\n

The first episode of part two drops this week followed by weekly installments, while fans can catch up on the first three seasons plus part one of the fourth via Crunchyroll.<\/p>\n
