A person who was injured after crashing into a moose almost 25 years ago is at a loss to understand why government does not do relatively simple and inexpensive things to help reduce the risk of such situations on our highways.<\/p>\n

Eugene Nippard, who formed \u201cSave Our People Action Committee\u201d to lobby governments in that regard, says this year has been terrible on the roads regarding moose-vehicle crashes, some of which have resulted in fatalities.<\/p>\n

The provincial government continues to add fencing along parts of the TCH to prevent crossings, but advancement is slow and measured.<\/p>\n

Nippard says it was a long battle to get the brush cut back in Terra Nova National Park, but it\u2019s time to do it again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did get it cut 30 feet back \u2013 thank you, but now it\u2019s up again, and it\u2019s only a matter of time before we have another fatality in the park. Sad to say.\u201d<\/p>\n

He would have preferred to see the brush removed 80 feet back.<\/p>\n

He says government people drive the highway all the time, and they know the dangers.<\/p>\n

\u201cPoliticians can get killed as well as anyone, and we have had an MP killed (Morrissey Johnson). We don\u2019t want our loved ones killed,\u201d he told VOCM Open Line.<\/p>\n
