Since his time serving as the standout second-unit star for the OKC Thunder from 2018 to 2020, Dennis Schroder has struggled to find a consistent home.<\/p>\n

Following his departure from the Sooner State, the point guard has found himself suiting up for nine different franchises over a six-year span.<\/p>\n

Now, according to recent rumblings, he seems to be on the verge of joining yet another club, as his current employers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, are believed to be scouring the trade market for the veteran<\/a> to create more financial flexibility.<\/p>\n

Should a deal ultimately come to fruition, Schroder will be set to play for the 12 different team in his 14-year career, which would fall just one shy of Ish Smith’s record for the most teams a player has represented.<\/p>\n

Schroder is coming off a 2025-26 season where he logged minutes for both the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland, posting solid per-game averages of 10.8 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds.<\/p>\n

Despite his production, the Cavs seem more interested in freeing up additional spending money to pursue available free agents like Jonathan Kuminga and Peyton Watson rather than giving the 32-year-old another go.<\/p>\n

Several former Thunder players find themselves struggling to find a home<\/p>\n

Schroder is far from the only former Thunder player looking for his next stable place of residence this summer. From role players like Jeff Green to foundational cornerstones such as James Harden, a number of ex-OKC members are currently stuck in NBA limbo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arguably the franchise’s G.O.A.T and always-cherished former superstar, Russell Westbrook, is also a headline name still available on the free-agent market.<\/p>\n

Despite the lack of attention from prospective buyers, however, Westbrook seems to be fully committed to playing his 19 season in the association<\/a> heading into the 2026-27 campaign, saying during a recent interview with CNN, “I love playing basketball,” and that it’s “my plan” to continue his already Hall of Fame-worthy career.<\/p>\n

All of these players are clearly still more than capable of contributing impactful minutes to teams in the association.<\/p>\n

Schroder can obviously provide spark plug scoring skills to a second-unit rotation; Green is a championship-tested leader; Harden is still a borderline All-Star who just posted 23.6 points and 8.0 assists on 37.5 percent shooting from deep last season; and Westbrook can still provide on-court intensity and stat-sheet-stuffing performances.<\/p>\n

Though it may take some time, each one of these former Thunder studs deserves a roster spot somewhere this coming season.<\/p>\n
