Thankfully, mostly on. There was the whole \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/of-course-a-dude-tested-the-bra-doping-theory\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bra dopin<\/a>g\u2019 thing, which hopefully will never enter the pages of Cycling Media\u2122 again. (Can\u2019t promise, but will try, on our part.) But there were also some strong opinions from the penultimate stage when then-yellow jersey, Kasia Niewiadoma accused Demi Vollering\u2019s teammate, C\u00e9lia Gery of being a bit sketch.<\/p>\n<p>And although the French champ had plenty to celebrate after the Tour de France Femmes, the 20-year-old French rider also had a difficult few days to process.<\/p>\n<p>Social media being awful, part 15,600,890<\/p>\n<p>Gery was targeted with hateful messages on social media following the very brief controversy involving Niewiadoma on Saturday. Some of the messages reportedly included death threats, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.directvelo.com\/actualite\/131086\/vraiment-difficile-a-vivre-celia-gery-les-jambes-et-les-maux\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DirectVelo.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite the abuse, Gery returned to racing Sunday and once again played an important role in helping teammate Demi Vollering secure the yellow jersey in Nice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really happy, it was so good, a great experience with the victory at the end. It\u2019s the dream scenario,\u201d Gery told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.directvelo.com\/actualite\/131086\/vraiment-difficile-a-vivre-celia-gery-les-jambes-et-les-maux\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DirectVelo<\/a> after the final stage.<\/p>\n<p>Vollering, who won her second Tour and first with FDJ United-Suez, was particularly concerned about her young teammate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe received a lot of disgusting messages. It made me very angry, especially because she is still a young woman and she should have been protected from this kind of stupid actions,\u201d Vollering said.<br \/>Gery admitted the experience had been difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really difficult to live yesterday, but hey\u2026 That\u2019s it, that\u2019s how it is,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The emotional release finally came after Vollering\u2019s overall victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, it feels really good to finish this way,\u201d Gery said.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that Niewiadoma also apologized to the folks at FDJ Suez, and congratulated Vollering on her win.
