{"id":85374,"date":"2025-08-21T04:42:06","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T04:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/85374\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T04:42:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T04:42:06","slug":"kumail-nanjiani-recalls-elon-musk-didnt-like-silicon-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/85374\/","title":{"rendered":"Kumail Nanjiani Recalls Elon Musk &#8220;Didn&#8217;t Like&#8221; &#8216;Silicon Valley&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSix years after <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/silicon-valley\/\">Silicon Valley<\/a> ended its <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hbo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">HBO<\/a> run, at least one tech billionaire is probably happy it\u2019s gone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/kumail-nanjiani\/\">Kumail Nanjiani<\/a>, who starred as programmer Dinesh Chugtai on the comedy series parodying the tech industry, recalled meeting <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/elon-musk\/\">Elon Musk<\/a> and hearing his critique of the series from Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cHe didn\u2019t like the show,\u201d Nanjiani said on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.podpage.com\/mike-birbiglias-working-it-out\/180-kumail-nanjiani-oh-mary-the-big-sick-and-a-return-to-stand-up\">Mike Birbiglia\u2019s Working It Out<\/a> podcast. \u201cHe was like, all the parties I go to are much cooler than these parties. I was like, yeah man, you\u2019re one of the richest people in the world. We\u2019re, like, losers on the show. Of course your parties are better than my parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRunning for six seasons from 2014 to 2019, Silicon Valley stars <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/thomas-middleditch\/\">Thomas Middleditch<\/a> as programmer Richard Hendricks, inspired by Judge\u2019s experience working in the tech industry of the \u201980s. The series took place in present day Silicon Valley, starring TJ Miller, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Zach Woods and Nanjiani as the employees of Richard\u2019s tech startup Pied Piper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAt a Deadline panel in 2020, Nanjiani said, \u201cOur show <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/video\/silicon-valley-hbo-virtual-screening-series-thomas-middleditch-zach-woods-martin-starr-amanda-crew-kumail-nanjiani-deadline-virtual-screening-series\/\">came out at the perfect time<\/a>\u2026 when we did the pilot, people weren\u2019t as fascinated with Silicon Valley personalities. We didn\u2019t know a lot of the names back then.
