B.C. Conservation Officer Service says there is no ongoing threat to other backcountry users after a grizzly bear attack near Pemberton. <\/p>\n
Conservation officers responded to a report of a grizzly bear attack Sunday evening in the backcountry area of the Rutherford Creek drainage, a Facebook post from the service says. <\/p>\n
B.C. Conservation Officer Service said the investigation determined the attack was \u201cdefensive in nature\u201d and was the result of a \u201cclose-range surprise encounter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The man has non-life-threatening injuries and was able to get himself to safety and seek medical attention.<\/p>\n
While the service says there is no ongoing threat to backcountry users, warning signage is being installed in the area. <\/p>\n
