A Coronation Street<\/a> newcomer has weighed in on joining the ITV soap<\/a> as part of a murder plot that hits close to home for Tim Metcalfe. Anya Dewin, who makes her Corrie debut this week, has posted a snap outside the iconic Rovers Return pub as she shared her longtime “dream” to star on the soap.

Taking to Instagram<\/a>, the actor reflected on playing Lucy Parkinson, the daughter of Tim’s cousin Richie<\/a>, played by Nathan Sussex. Lucy has a very tough time after Richie is accused of murdering his wife, with the teen being taken in by Tim and Sally after he dad gets arrested.

<\/p>\n

Now, Dewin said she is “so grateful” for being part of the cast of Corrie as her co-stars throw their support behind her.
<\/p>\n

“I still can’t quite believe I get to say this, but I’m so grateful to be joining the cast of Coronation Street!” Dewin wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n

“This has been such a blessing, working alongside the most beautiful people, and getting to live out a dream I’ve had for so long,” she continued.<\/p>\n

“Some dreams really come true don’t they?” she rounded off her introductory post, writing: “”There’s a new girl on the Cobbles\u2026.”<\/p>\n

Her co-stars, including Sally Metcalfe star Sally Dynevor, gave Dewin a warm welcome.<\/p>\n

“You’re wonderful and we love you,” Dynevor wrote as Bethany Platt star Lucy Fallon hinted at her and Anya sharing a dressing room on set. <\/p>\n

“YAAAAAAAYYYY ROOMIE !!!!” she wrote with a lightning and a pink heart emojis.<\/p>\n

George Shuttleworth star Tony Maudsley celebrated his co-star, writing: “And you are a DREAM casting!! What a wonderful job you’re doing, Anya!! Welcome aboard!! Roll on Thursday!! HERE COMES LUCY!!!”<\/p>\n

Sydney Martin, who’s received praise for a stroke storyline involving her character Betsy Swain, also offered her support and encouragement to Dewin, writing: “can’t wait to watch you shine sweet girl”.<\/p>\n
