But when strange, dangerous things begin to happen to the sleeping clientele, Penny must uncover the mystery before the nightmare spreads beyond the store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A #1 bestseller in Korea, Lee\u2019s novel has sold more than 2 million copies in 20+ territories. EVP of Production Jessica Virtue is overseeing the feature take for Disney Live Action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Himself an author of books for adults, young adults and children, Ness is no stranger to screen adaptations, having adapted two of his own works,\u00a0A Monster Calls\u00a0and\u00a0Chaos Walking, for film. Focus Features released J. A. Bayona\u2019s 2016 take on\u00a0A Monster Calls, starring Lewis MacDougall, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, and more, where Ness was exec producer in addition to screenwriter. Meanwhile, Lionsgate tapped Doug Liman to direct an adaptation of his\u00a0Chaos Walking\u00a0trilogy, starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland; Ness and Christopher Ford were the writers on the film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published in over 40 languages, Ness has won every major prize in children\u2019s fiction, including the Carnegie Medal twice, as well as the Olivier Award for the stage adaptation of\u00a0A Monster Calls. He\u2019s otherwise best known for creating and writing spinoff\u00a0Class, the eight-part\u00a0Doctor Who\u00a0spin-off for BBC.
