\n\tThe End of Oak Street<\/a> is aiming to make noise as it debuts at the box office<\/a> amid the third weekend for the juggernaut that is Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith Warner Bros.<\/a> releasing director David Robert Mitchell\u2019s\u00a0The End of Oak Street\u00a0in 3,400 North American theaters, the dinosaur-focused sci-fi survival movie grossed $2.5 million in Thursday previews. The studio projects an opening weekend<\/a> in the range of $18 million to $23 million as the summer winds down.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAnne Hathaway<\/a>, Ewan McGregor<\/a>, Maisy Stella and Christian Convery star in the film that hails from Bad Robot and carries an $80 million production budget. Mitchell, known for the 2014 horror hit It Follows, helmed the movie from his own script about a family in the early 1980s whose suburban neighborhood has landed in a place teeming with prehistoric predators.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe End of Oak Street\u00a0holds an 85 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. In his\u00a0review for\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, chief film critic David Rooney called the movie \u201cmindlessly entertaining in a big-dumb-fun kind of way.\u201d At the\u00a0Oak Street\u00a0premiere, Hathaway expressed to\u00a0THR<\/a>\u00a0her gratitude \u201cthat audiences want to go see original things, and this movie is really original.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso bringing prehistoric creatures to theaters this weekend is Paramount Pictures<\/a>\u2018 PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, which kicked off with $1.9 million cumulatively from Thursday previews and paid Saturday previews. The third feature in producer Spin Master Entertainment\u2019s animated franchise is set for more than 3,500 locations in North America, with the studio eyeing an opening weekend in the mid-to-high teens after having already surpassed $35.4 million in 30 international markets. Dino Movie\u00a0has a $39.5 million production budget.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarter Young,\u00a0Mckenna Grace<\/a>, Terry Crews, Jennifer Hudson and Snoop Dogg are among the voice stars for director Cal Brunker\u2019s film that brings the Paw Patrol canine heroes to a world containing dinosaurs. The previous sequel, 2023\u2019s\u00a0PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, opened to $22.7 million domestically in late September. Its $205 million global run improved upon the $144 worldwide total for 2021\u2019s original\u00a0PAW Patrol: The Movie, which adapted the series that first launched on Nick Jr. in 2013.<\/p>\n

\n\tPAW Patrol: The Dino Movie\u00a0has scored an 86 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. In his review for\u00a0THR,\u00a0critic Frank Scheck wrote<\/a>\u00a0that, \u201cwhile the material is thoroughly juvenile, the films impart valuable messages to their impressionable viewers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Sony Pictures<\/a>\u2018 Spider-Man: Brand New Day extends its historic run into its third weekend in theaters and is expected to top the chart again. Earlier this week, director Destin Daniel Cretton\u2019s Tom Holland-led superhero feature added to its array of records<\/a> as it became the fastest title to swing past the $700 million mark<\/a> at the domestic box office. <\/p>\n
