The veteran Australian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DcA1c4ZCozk\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced<\/a> on Friday that the end of the 2026 season would be her last on the mountain bike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s time to say goodbye to the MTB World Cup,\u201d the reigning Australian national champion posted. \u201cAt the end of this season I\u2019ll be stepping away from this beautiful sport. It\u2019s impossible to put 17 years of World Cup racing into words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Henderson has remained a staple of the international cross country scene for well over a decade. In that time, she\u2019s represented Australia at four Olympics, won three World Cups and numerous national championship titles.<\/p>\n<p>This may be the end of Henderson\u2019s time on a cross country bike, but it doesn\u2019t sound like it\u2019s the end of Henderson\u2019s career. The Australian hinted that she might be chasing new goals on the road in the future.<\/p>\n<p>First, the Orbea Factory Team rider has to finish off the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor now I just look forward to giving my best at these last races and enjoying every moment surrounded by the incredible MTB community,\u201d Henderson said. \u201cShooting for some new goals and opportunities around the corner but 100% here and present in this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After 17 years of racing World Cup cross country, Rebecca Henderson is going to try something new.
